Latest Cakes I've Made

16th Birthday cake I made for a friend. The bow actually matched just not with the camera flash.
Red velvet cake I made for a work Christmas munch session. It was gone before lunch!

Christmas 2008 at my house

It took me awhile to finally get motivated to decorate the trees, but I did it and love them both...just wish the pics did them justice!

So, it's been awhile since I've blogged anything (except for the blog I use in the high school class I teach). Lately, I have been obsessed with my dream of opening a pastry shop. Also, I've started my own Pampered Chef business to supplement my wonderful teacher salary. I should have my website up and running in a few weeks, so check back in for updates.

Random interests and happenings since my last entry...

Shower Gift

My sis and I were invited to a lingerie shower for a friend. I'm kinda silly with things *haha* and like to match the wrapping with the gift inside. So, here's the end result...silver because I didn't have black paper.

More cupakes...

I had some icing left over, so I made some more cupcakes. I'll take these to my church's annual Homecoming service tomorrow. I think they turned out cute! Chocolate with buttercream icing. Topped with milk chocolate chips...

Tupperware Party

Here's the salad bar I "created" for the party...the party was a blast!

Fondant & Georgia

The circle one is my first attempt at covering a cake in fondant. The UGA cake was for my cousin's grad party...I put the gumpaste balls on the wrong tier! =(

I feel like Betty Crocker tonight...

So, I get off work at's raining. Run in the fabric store to get some black satin for a sash for a dress I'm wearing Sunday to our annual Homecoming service. I rush to the post office to ship off some packages (addicted to selling amazon books & ebay stuff!). Go to Wal-Mart to pick up stuff to make cupcakes for my almost 90 students tomorrow. Fulfill my 30 minutes at Curves...and finally make it home! Then, for the next 3 hours or so, I was caught in the middle of a baking frenzy...with the powdered sugar haze and all! I made 3 or 4 different flavors, but these turned out the best.

I think that I have 2 or 3 more cakes to make...2 shower & 1 wedding! Also, one of my students is going to give my contact info to her boss who is getting married soon. This has been my dream for a long time...glad it's finally seeing some action. =)

Fall Festival = Harvest Gathering

I'm in charge of my church's fall festival...which we are having after Halloween this year on November 8, so it's more like a celebration of the harvest and thankfulness. I'm excited about it though! Last year turned out pretty great...and already have some cool ideas for this year.

I'm thinking about making all of us girls (the workers!) an apron to wear since we're going to be busy with this and that. I love those aprons!

I love that flyer and think I'm going to try and incorporate that into our flyer.

The Rocky Road cupcakes just remind me of bonfires and fall air...yummy!

Wedding Cake

I finally got to make a wedding cake...and I'm rather pleased at how it turned out. It's buttercream with gumpaste flowers.

Some more stuff from me...and my mom.

A small wedding cake my mom made.
Turtle cheesecake I made...and dropped in the dirt!
My Birthday cake off of the 07 Southern Living Christmas book cover.
My first attempt at fondant icing...not so great. :)
My sister's 16th party...few years ago. We had lantern candle jars hanging in the trees. It was great!

My creativity at work...

Fall Festival Treats
Pumpkins I carved for the Fall Festival
These looked great later that night!

Gift I wrapped for a friend...

So, this is my first attempt at a blog...after joining Country Living's message board, I realized the vast amount of bloggers out here that are doing the exact things I dream of doing one day. My day job is a high school teacher, but I truly desire to start my own business mixing my love for entertaining, pastry, crafty things, antiques, polkadots, simple things, and creativity in general. I have all these ideas swimming in my head all the time...sure, it's relaxing to daydream at times, but it's to the point I have to let some of this "escape"... :) So, I guess I'll start by just posting things that inspire me -- pics, words, websites, people, places...just whatever.
